Interdisciplinary teams have identified the SDGs they are contributing the most
Last Friday, May 28, the student-teams formed by the different challenges met to assess what they have learned so far with Ocean i3, as well as visualizing how much they are contributing to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Lastly, they consolidated the project to present the social agent for the next and last workshop, on June 25.
The workshop gave the participant students the opportunity to identify skills that can be included in their curriculums. To do this, the groups answered questions like: What am I learning with the project? What is it that I like the most? How do I differentiate a person who has gone through the Ocean i3 project?
Then, the groups reflected on how they contribute their collaborative projects of challenges to the SDGs. They formed a pyramid to order and visualize the objectives to which each team contributes the most. Moreover, the Mentimeter App calculated which SDGs are contributing the most to the Ocean i3 project as a whole. At the end of the workshop, the teams set aside time to continue advancing their final projects that will be presented on June 25 to the social agents.
We continue to work online with two platforms: Gather, which allowed us to meet the Ocean i3 community remotely as we had done in person; and on the other hand, Mural was the resource to work collaboratively and also document the entire work process of the teams.
Finally, multilingualism (a hallmark of the project) maintained its important role in this fourth meeting. There were numerous examples of true translanguaging, that is, jumps from one language to another in the same speech and by the same speaker. Naturally, speakers took full advantage of their linguistic repertoire to communicate effectively, allowing them to work in a free and effective communication environment.
In addition, taking advantage of this multicultural environment, the Language Policy was made available to the entire Ocean i3 community, and more specifically, the Practical Guide for managing the linguistic diversity of this community. The document contains language resources that we hope will be useful and contribute to raising awareness about language.
